Vein Treatment

Premier Vein Center provides caring, expert medical services for the treatment of vein disease. You don’t need to live with unsightly veins, leg pain, or ulcers. Dr. Jarrod Kaufman will evaluate and resolve your vein disease using state-of-the art vein therapies.

Enlarged, tortuous veins, discolored veins, and painful or tired legs result from vein disease. When valves inside your veins become damaged, they inhibit the forward flow of blood, and allow blood to pool. Schedule an appointment with our Central Jersey vein doctor for an expert evaluation of the cause of your vein disease for proper treatment.

Ultrasound

Venous ultrasound utilizes harmless sound waves to form images of the inside of your body for diagnosis and vein treatment. Ultrasound can be used to inspect the valves inside your veins or look for blood clots; such blockages can be life-threatening because if they break loose, they can travel to the lungs or brain.

Laser & Radiofrequency Ablation

Laser therapy and radiofrequency ablation are two minimally-invasive techniques used to treat varicose veins. Laser therapy directs a focused beam of light at the affected vein to destroy the faulty vein. The veins closes and is gradually reabsorbed harmlessly, making the varicose vein disappear. Radiofrequency ablation is similar, but it uses radiofrequency energy instead of a laser.

Endovenous Ablation

This technique gets rid of varicose veins by using heat to shut down the affected veins. The heat may be generated by a targeted laser or radiofrequency energy. Endovenous ablation is minimally invasive and very effective.

Sclerotherapy

This procedure treats spider veins and small varicose veins by injecting a special solution into the affected vein. This causes the vein to collapse and reroute blood through healthier veins. Over time, the collapsed vein is reabsorbed harmlessly.

Trivex

This new, proven treatment gets rid of varicose veins and venous ulcerations by physically removing the damaged vein through tiny incisions. Trivex is minimally invasive and offers great cosmetic results.

Percutaneous Ablation

This refers to going through the skin to treat spider veins and varicose veins. Typical treatment options include sclerotherapy, laser ablation, radiofrequency ablation and Trivex. Our Central Jersey vein doctors are highly experienced at using these techniques to help you get rid of unsightly or painful veins.

Treatment & Diagnosis of DVT

DVT, or deep vein thrombosis, refers to a blood clot in a deep vein, often in the leg. If the blood clot breaks free, it could lodge in your lungs and become life-threatening. DVT symptoms can mimic many other medical conditions, so it’s important to consult our Central Jersey Vein Clinic immediately if you’re experiencing swelling, pain, tenderness, warmth, redness or fatigue in one or both legs.

To determine whether you have DVT, our vein doctors may use venous ultrasound, venography (a special X-ray), CT or MRI to generate images of your leg veins. If a blood clot is found, you may be given medication such as blood thinners or clotbusters, or you may be advised to use compression stockings or a filter to physically prevent clots from reaching your lungs.

IVC Filters

An inferior vena cava (IVC) filter is placed in the largest vein in the body to prevent blood clots from reaching the lungs. Blood clots may generate in the legs as deep vein thrombosis (DVT); if these clots break loose and lodge in the lungs, they could cause pulmonary embolism, which may be deadly.

Treatment of Post-Phlebitic Syndrome

Also called PTS or venous stress disorder, this refers to the signs and symptoms that may occur up to a few years after having deep vein thrombosis (DVT). These symptoms, focused on the legs, are caused by damage to your leg veins from the blood clot and include swelling, pain, and skin discoloration. Treatment usually includes medications and compression stockings.

Treatment of Lymphedema

Lymphedema, or swelling in an arm or leg, is caused by blockages in the lymphatic system. This causes fluid to accumulate and create swelling. Typical treatments include exercises, compression wraps or garments, or special massage.
